In static conditions.

Marisil® Thixo is a two component pumpable resins for the anchoring of rockbolts and cable bolts.

This is the latest technology for grouting bolts and cables, enabling a fully automated bolt installation.

Unlike resin cartridges, pumpable resin ensures full column encapsulation regardless of the hole size.

Boreholes can be pre-grouted, followed by the insertion of a solid bar rockbolt/cable, or post-grouted using a pumpable rockbolt.

Setting times and thixotropy are tailored to the site conditions, taking the length of the bolts/cables and the temperature on site into account.

The product is non-foaming and can adhere to damp surfaces (unaffected by water).

Marisil® Thixo application modules are on board Epiroc’s Boltec and Cabletec rigs, it can be retrofitted or can also be implemented using a Thixo SKID next to any bolter rig.

Benefits of the pumpable resins:
  • Full column grouted despite borehole condition.
  • Significantly reduce the installation time.
  • Designed for Epiroc’s boltec and cabletec or SKID.
  • Resin penetrates even the most minor cracks.
  • Adjustable setting time.
  • Non foaming.
  • Quick curing to full strength.
  • Does not intermix with water.
USE:
  • Made for Epiroc’s boltec and cabletec or SKID.
  • Grouting of all types of bolts and cables.
  • Water sealing.
  • Add a Booster to reach higher strength (Dynamic bolts).

TECHNOLOGY:

UREA SILICATE RESIN
Same properties as the previous silicate resins but with added thixotropic properties.
  • Gel immediately after mixing.
  • Quick curing to full strength.
  • Not water sensitive.

PRODUCTS:

MARISIL® Thixo / POTENTIA® Thixo
  • Pumpable resin for anchoring rockbolts and cable bolts.
  • 1:1 Ratio.

Post grouting.

The post-grouting process involves injecting the resin through the bolt already in place. The bolt is a hollow bar or any type of bolt fitted with an injection tube. The mixing nozzle is connected on the bolt.

The resin is pumped through the hollow bolt to the back of the bore hole and returns in the annular space between bore hole and bolt, to the plate. The injection stops when the resin comes out behind the plate.

The setting time of the resin is adapted to the time needed to pump the bolt as well to the temperature. This method is used for automated bolting in combination with SDA bolts.

Pre grouting.

The pre-grouting process involves injecting the resin in the bore hole prior to the installation of the bolt.

After having drilled the bore hole, the mixing nozzle or the outlet of the injection hose is placed in the back of the hole.

When starting pumping the nozzle and/or injection tube is pulled back progressively to ensure the hole is properly filled without plugging the nozzle in the hole.

Once the designed volume of resin is in the hole, the bolt is pushed in the bore hole through the resin. The pre-grouting method suits  for grouting of full bar anchors or cable anchors.

The chosen setting time has to take in account the pumping time as well as the time needed to insert the bolt through the resin.

To prevent leakage during the bolt installation, the thixotropy of the resins used for pre-grouting is stronger as for post-grouting.
