Jennmar maintains three
steel processing slitting lines

Mary and Frank Calandra, Sr., parents of Jennmar’s two common stockholders, Jack Calandra and Frank Calandra, Jr., originated Frank Calandra, Inc. as a proprietorship in 1922. Jennmar was incorporated in 1965 and from 1922 until 1972 was engaged in various businesses related to the coal mining industry. In 1972, Jennmar began to change the primary focus of its business to the manufacturing of roof support systems. Jennmar’s first step was the purchase of the manufacturing machinery necessary to begin producing steel mine roof bolts in Cresson, Pennsylvania.
- 1975 Jennmar introduces first specialty bolt - The Combination Bolt and Jennmar West Virginia was built and put into production
- 1978 Jennmar Kentucky was built and put into production
- 1981 Jennmar acquires Valley Steel roof bolt plant in Flora, Illinois
- 1983 Jennmar continues development of specialty bolt design and receives patents on Instal bolt Systems
- 1986 Jennmar acquires local roof bolt manufacturer in Helper, Utah
- 1992 Jennmar expands the Kentucky facility in Lexington
- 1993 The Helper, Utah facility closed along with the Flora, Illinois facility and a new modern facility was built in Clearfield, Utah
- 1994 Jennmar purchased advanced mining and built and moved equipment to a new modern plant located in Tazewell County, Virginia
- 1995 Jennmar introduces new line of cable bolt technology and expands the West Virginia plant in Reedsville.
- 1996 Jennmar moved into a new modern corporate headquarters facility in Pittsburgh, PA
- 1997 Jennmar established a manufacturing facility in Sydney, Australia
- 1997 Jennmar also expands the Tazewell County, Virginia manufacturing facility
- 1999 Jennmar began construction of a 130,000 sq/ft steel service center adjacent to the Nucor Steel Mill site in Berkley County, South Carolina
- 2002 Jennmar becomes the largest supplier of strata control products to underground coal mines in Australia. Jennmar begins looking toward Asia for future production
- 2003 Jennmar’s R & D department launches Big and Little John Prop Program
- 2006 Jennmar Jining produces first roof bolt for Asia market in August of 2006
- 2006 Jennmar’s affiliate, J-Lok company begins producing its own line of speciality product resin for Jennmar bolt systems
- 2007 Jennmar Australia expanded its manufacturing facilities in New South Wales and Queensland Australia.
- 2007 Jennmar Specialty Products begins production
- 2008 Jennmar completes construction of a new bolt and resin facility in Earlington, Kentucky. J-LOK Resins Australia PTY LTD is due to begin production to offer a line of resin to complement Jennmar Australia’s products. Also, Jennmar Canada is in development as Jennmar has expanded internationally to Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
